Layout Visualisation

Using Adobe Illustrator, I experimented with text alignments and visual concepts to achieve balanced aesthetics and proportionate values.

The focus was on the layouts rather than the content to optimise

Visual Presentation, which was the name of the module.

Text Alignment

With a famous product designer in mind, Karim Rashid was the topic of context for the layout experimentation to substitute the usual Lorem Ipsum dummy text.

The exercise practised attention to detail, from making sure that there were no "orphans" and "widows" in each paragraph to finding corresponding layouts between selected Serif and Sans Serif fonts.

Visual Concepts

Visual Concepts

After familiarising with text alignment, the next step was to understand visual concepts. The visual concepts refer to having a

balance between the text and visuals, testing the limits of proportions

of each component without breaking the visual aesthetics.

To acquire the ability to differentiate between the concepts of Asymmetrical Balance, Contrast, Symmetrical Balance and Unity.

Slide Show Presentation

Slide Show Presentation

With text alignment and visual concepts in mind, the next challenge was to create a presentation consisting of 10 slides, covering the story behind one of Karim Rashid's famously designed products, CYBORG.

Exhibition Display

Knowing the basics of text alignment and visual concepts, along with the practice of generating a slide show presentation, creating an A3 poster and informative A2 Boards simulates the process behind displaying a product in a design exhibition.

Main poster to be displayed at the entrance of the Design Exhibition.
